No Injury or
Fatality-- But a VERY CLOSE CALL!!! My 5 year old daughter was
about to cross the road to our driveway, the safety arm on the bus
was extended and my daughter was watching for the driver to signal
for her to cross and he had not signaled her yet and started to
drive away-- my daughter jumped back out of the way-- I was
screaming that she had not crossed yet and to stop and waving my
arms-- the driver saw me and was visibly shaken-- he is a
grandfather and a good person-- but upon discussion with the
transportation supervisor he admitted that he was distracted by kids
in the back of the bus and did not follow protocol. My daughter was
crying and very upset as was I. I called the superintendent and am
trying to get the route changed so that my daughter does not have to
cross over-- all the houses on our road are on our side and no
children should have to cross over the road--I an so thankful that
my daughter jumped back and that angels were watching over her! I
want seatbelts on ALL buses and live BUS MONITORS persons aboard all
buses to control children and assist with drop offs and pickups so
that the driver can concentrate on driving and roadway conditions. |

My son was thrown out
of the rear seat of the school bus when the driver hit a curb and
then a speed pump. This caused him to hit his head on the emergency
door latch. We where called to pick him up from the school bus
saying that he had a bump on his head. Upon arrival we where
informed that he need to go to the emergency room. He had a stab in
the back of his head that was still bleeding. He received 3
staples. |

HOUSE SPRINGS, Mo. Three children are
being treated for moderate injuries after their school bus was in an
accident that could've been a lot worse.
Authorities in Jefferson County,
Missouri, say the bus flipped onto its side and went into a creek
bed. Investigators say one of the tires apparently went off the edge
of the road this morning, and the driver couldn't regain control.
Nine kids, ranging from
kindergartners to sixth-graders, were aboard at the time. Three have
bumps, bruises and possibly some broken bones. The other children,
plus the driver, were taken to a hospital to be checked.
