4 Kids Hurt in School Bus Accident

A car ran into the front end of a Wallkill school bus as it turned onto Route 208 yesterday, leaving four kids with minor injuries.

The bus of students from Ostrander Elementary School was turning from LaVoletta Street onto Route 208 north when the car collided with it. This happened about 3:30 p.m. according to Kevin Castle, assistant superintendent for Support Services.

Four students complained of pain and were transported to area hospitals by ambulance, Castle said.

The driver of the car apparently was uninjured.

Shawangunk Police were in charge of the accident scene and investigation. Police could not be reached for further details.
