Five Students Injured in School Bus Crash in Barton County

Five students suffered minor to moderate injuries in a school bus accident that occurred at 1:40 p.m. today on Barton County C, two miles east of Irwin, a Missouri Highway Patrol report said.

The 2003 Freightliner, driven by Susan J. Griffitt, 48, of Lamar, ran off the south side of the road, overcorrected, skidded across the road, struck the north ditch, returned to the road and overturned, a patrol report said.

Brandon W. Jones, 13, and Cody A. Tillery, age unknown, of Lamar and Megan Scheetz, 16, of Irwin suffered moderate injuries, and Alex L. Pennell, 5, of Lamar and Megan N. Straw, 12, of Sheldon suffered minor injuries, the report said.

All of the students were taken to Barton County Memorial Hospital in Lamar.
