SCHOOL BUS CRASH REPORTS 2007

Boy Ejected From Car
February 28, 2007

A Collier County school bus that allegedly ran a stop sign last Friday morning collided with a sports utility vehicle at the intersection 16th Avenue S.W. and 23rd Street S.W.

The impact caused the left rear passenger, Diago Diaz, 14, to be ejected from the left rear window of the SUV, a 2001 Ford. He sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Another passenger, an infant, was secured in a car seat and was not injured. The SUV, driven by Maria Martinez-Ramirez, 34, of Naples, crashed into a palm tree and fence post, according to police. Ms. Martinez-Ramirez also sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the school bus, Carole Ross, 63, of Bonita Springs, was cited for running a stop sign. There were no reported injuries to students on the school bus.
