Children Slightly Hurt in Bus Wreck

A school bus accident this morning sent seven children to the hospital with minor injuries.

Shortly after 9:30 a.m., a bus on Shelby Street hit a car that pulled out in front of it, said Rick Caple, Jefferson County Public Schools director of transportation.

The bus was carrying students who are members of the Starfish swimming program from Shelby Elementary School.

Caple said students complained of bumped heads and neck pain, but there was little damage to the bus.
