Car Lands Under Bus After Crash
April 30, 2007
STALLINGS, N.C. -- A car wound up
underneath a school bus after an early morning crash Monday.
Union County school bus number 945 was
entering the Madison Ridge subdivision just before 7 a.m. when a
Chrysler Sebring crashed into the bus ending up underneath it, according
to police.
The driver of the Sebring, Corey Lamar
Thomas, was driving north on Stallings Road when the bus crossed the
roadway in front of him, police said. The car hit the left side of the
bus and the car became stuck underneath the underside of the bus with
the car's trunk sticking out from the left side of the bus and the front
of the car sticking out from the right side of the bus.
There were 18 students on board the bus
at the time of the accident. They were quickly evacuated from the bus.
Three students had minor injuries and those student's parents picked
them up and took them to get medical aid.
Thomas was taken to Carolinas Medical
Center by helicopter.
Police are still investigating the cause
of the crash.
