SCHOOL BUS CRASH REPORTS 2007

Children Injured in School Bus Accident
March 15, 2007

An outing by a group of daycare children came to a frightening end yesterday just before 11 a.m. when the buses transporting them crashed.

The two buses were travelling on Jeanne Mance St., carrying the children back to the daycare after a visit to Maison Theatre on Ontario St. E. when the accident occurred, according to Montreal police Constable Laurent Gingras. A Honda CRV in front of the first bus stopped abruptly to park and the first bus ran into it. The second bus was also unable to stop in time and rammed into the other one, Gingras said.

Five children, ranging in age from 5 to 7, suffered from whiplash and knee injures and were sent to a hospital as a precaution. Also injured were the driver of the second bus, whose chest was bruised when he hit the steering wheel, and two daycare workers, who received cuts. They also went to a hospital, but none of their injuries is considered serious.
