SCHOOL BUS CRASH REPORTS 2007

Disabled Girl Bus Injury Probe
April 3, 2007

AN investigation has been launched after a disabled girl suffered serious head injuries while travelling on a school bus.
The 10 year old, from Ripponden, had to have a week off from Highbury School, Rastrick, after the accident last Tuesday.

The youngster, who is blind and suffers severe cerebral palsy, hydrocephalus and epilepsy, is believed to have been knocked unconscious.

A spokesman for Calderdale Council, who run the bus service, said: "Safety officers are investigating and investigations centre on the child's wheelchair, which belongs to her family.

Government watchdog the Health and Safety Executive has been informed.

A spokesman said: "We are making preliminary investigations to see who is responsible for looking into this between ourselves and the Medical Devices Agency."

The school refused to comment.
