SCHOOL BUS CRASH
REPORTS 2007
School Bus, Driver Sought In Fatal
Hit-And-Run
21 February, 2007
CHICAGO (WBBM) -- Chicago Police continue
the search for the school bus and driver possibly involved in a fatal
hit-and-run accident Feb. 12 in the East Side neighborhood.
WBBM’s Bob Roberts reports 41-year-old
Leticia Valadez died in the accident at 108th Street and Ewing Avenue,
not far from her home at 10826 S. Ewing Av.
Calumet Area detectives, in a community
alert released Tuesday, said that a yellow school bus left the area
immediately after she was struck.
Eyewitnesses at the time told police that
the woman screamed as she was hit, at about 8 a.m. Feb. 12, and was then
dragged south for at least a block on Ewing. Several vehicles were in
the area, and it was unclear if the bus is the vehicle that struck her.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
A Police News Affairs spokesman said
Calumet Area detectives did not have a partial license plate number or
name of the bus company, and are hoping that eyewitnesses could supply
the information.
Anyone with information is asked to call
Calumet Area detectives at (312) 747-8272.
