Fatal School Bus Accident in
McColl
February 7, 2007
In Marlboro County, the driver of a
school bus carrying 10 kids died after a wreck. We can report all
ten children on board are okay.
The bus was carrying students from
McColl Elementary Middle School on Highway 381, when the driver lost
control. There were no other vehicles involved.
The accident happened in the town of
McColl in Marlboro County around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday evening.
School district officials told us
Beatrice Melvin had a heart attack behind the wheel, lost control of
the bus, causing it to run off the road and into some trees. Melvin
had to be cut out of the bus, and we're told she died shortly after
7:00 p.m.
