1 Dead in School Bus Accident on 75/85

A car was hit by a school bus in a fatal wreck on the Downtown Connector on Tuesday afternoon, snarling rush hour traffic.

One person was confirmed dead in an accident involving a school bus on the Downtown Connector on Monday afternoon.

The accident, at the height of the evening rush hour, snarled traffic on I-75/85 between 10th and 14th Streets.

Shortly after the accident, police said that the victim was in the car that was struck by the school bus.

They say that though there were 16 children on the Woodward Academy school bus, no injuries were reported on the bus.

The students on the bus were loaded onto another school bus for the trip home.

Up to five other vehicles were involved in the wreck, but no other injuries were reported.

The accident remains under investigation.
