School Bus Crash - England
7 February 2007
A woman was injured in a crash with a
school bus this morning.
There were no children on the bus,
which was on its way to pick up pupils to take them to Halesworth
Middle School. The collision between the green Vauxhall Astra and
the cream single-decker Volvo bus happened at 8.10am on London Road
in Halesworth, near the junction with Babington Drive.
The female car driver had to be freed
by firefighters, who closed the road while they cut the roof off her
car. The 41-year-old local woman was taken to the James Paget
Hospital in Gorleston suffering from shock and whiplash.
Richard Nichols, headteacher of
Halesworth Middle School, said: “There was an accident but no
children were involved. Another bus was sent out to pick up the
children.”
The bus driver, a man in his 40s
described as from the local area, was unhurt. The bus operator,
Peasenhall-based Whincop, declined to comment.
