School Bus Involved in Accident
March 30, 2007
A 2005 Bluebird school bus owned by
Bohnert Transportation in Morris, Pa., was involved in a accident on
state Route 287 in Duncan Township in Tioga County early Thursday
morning.
State Police from the Mansfield
barracks investigated the accident.
According to police the bus was
followed by a sport utility vehicle and a 2004 Grad Prix driven by
Steven E. Johnson, 52 of Williamsport.
When the bus slowed down in a
straight-stretch marked passing zone, Johnson attempted to pass the
SUV and the bus.
The left front of the bus hit the
right side of Johnson’s car, spinning it off the west side of the
road into some brush.
An inspection showed that the bus’s
rear turn signal was not functioning.
A traffic and equipment violation
charge will be filed against the bus driver, Joseph T. Bohnert, 73,
of Morris, Pa.
Police did not say if children were
on the bus at the time of the accident.
