SCHOOL BUS CRASH REPORTS 2007

School Bus Hits Parked Car. Injures Woman and Two Students
April 10, 2007

MARION — Two Sippican Elementary School students and a New Bedford woman were transported to Tobey Hospital today after a school bus hit a parked car in Marion.
All three were treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Marion police said a school bus carrying students to Sippican Elementary School struck the car while backing up in the turn-around on Indian Cove Road.

The bus, owned by Laidlaw Transit, was driven by Bruce Bumpus, 68, of Wareham. Kimmy Mello, 36, of New Bedford, was inside the passenger car that was struck.

Ms. Mello and two students were transported by ambulance to Tobey Hospital.

The remaining students were transferred to another bus and driven to the school.

Marion fire, EMS, Mattapoisett police and the state police assisted at the scene.

There are no charges filed at this time. The accident is under investigation.
