SCHOOL BUS CRASH REPORTS 2007

Woman Struck and Killed by School Bus
February 12, 2007

Police are searching for a yellow school bus that struck and killed a woman on the Far Southeast Side early Sunday.

The woman, believed to be in her 40s, was struck by a yellow bus at 108th Street and Ewing Avenue about 6 a.m. and dragged about a block, according to police News Affairs Officer Kristina Schuler. Her body was released near 107th Street.

The woman, who remains unidentified as of noon Monday, was pronounced dead at 8 a.m. on the scene, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

Police do not yet have a description of the driver, who fled the scene in the bus.

Schuler could not immediately comment on if there were children or other passengers on the bus at the time of the crash.
