No Rule On Seatbelts, But Chicago
Does It
July 24, 2007
Illinois doesn't require that school
buses have seat belts, citing the claim that "compartmentalization"
is the best protection for kids.
With that in mind, the government is considering backing seat belts.
Mandate or no mandate, the Chicago
Public Schools have had seat belts on buses since 1975, spokesman
Mike Vaughn said. "It makes students safer," he said.
